TRAFFIC OPERATIONS
The Traffic Operations Division conducts traffic investigations, surveillance, design, and programming for improvements to the existing city traffic system. The Traffic Operations Division also performs signal system analysis and programming for the efficient operation of the City’s signal network.
The Traffic Operations Section has three trained technicians who perform a variety of tasks including AutoCAD design, plan review and citizen requests.
Traffic Operations manages an annual traffic monitoring program, collecting traffic flow volumes throughout the City.
The section operates and maintains their own counting equipment. They are also in a position to support other City departments and Government agencies by doing traffic counts and vehicle type, or classification, counts, on request. On average, over 200 intersection visibility checks are also performed per year.

Traffic Operations responds to an average of over 700 citizen requests for traffic services every year and hundreds more from other agencies or City departments.
The Traffic Operations section, with over 70 years of collective experience and service to the City of Spokane, performing plan review, citizen request, traffic signal management, data collection and policy/administration services.
